Entry Level Database Architect - ongoing opportunity

Position Description:
The candidate selected will be responsible for investigating new features and functionality offered by the open DBMS technologies in use at Ford, as well as to implement processes and mechanisms to ensure usage compliance within contractual limits.   

Position Duties:
Investigates, reviews and recommends adoption of new features, utilities and integration of new releases of existing DBMSs

Researches developments in database technologies to recommend appropriate new tools

Provides guidance to DBAs on best usage of database technology new features

Develops and enforces corporate standards in database design and implementation and mechanisms to ensure usage compliance

Evaluates and/or builds innovations and/or prototypes based on research

Conducts architecture related research as directed by management to better understand database solution(s) for a specific domain

Collaborates with others to develop and maintain current and future state database architecture standards, guidelines, blueprints and roadmaps

Provides input and guidance to support database architecture governance

Provides support to teams to analyze and identify issues when the database architecture does not meet requirements (e.g. performance, scalability, data design, integration testing, audit compliance, information failure mode analysis)

Drives alignment between specific architecture projects and related IT projects and plans, by working with appropriate IT and business team member

Requirements: 
  • 3+ years experience using two or more of the following DBMS (Oracle, MS SQLServer or IBM DB2 LUW)
  • Data modeling experience a plus
  • Object Oriented Analysis, Design, and OO Tool experience is a plus
  • Experience with interfaces and J2EE technologies
  • Experience with VMware, Linux and/or  Windows operating systems
  • Experience in trouble shooting complex systems, performance testing and tuning
  • Experience working with global teams on complex projects
  • Negotiation skills and ability to work with several and diverse set of stakeholders/customers
  • Automotive industry experience is a plus
